second try of front cover
Even though i liked the first try there was something missing from the cover. i thought the colours where to bright and the background was too dark so therefore i brightened the whole image, i think this make the model stand out even more as well as doing that i moved the model slightly more to the side, i think this makes the front cover more interesting. i also changed the colours for the masthead from multi-coloured to all red.

- concert tickets
- Top 20 British albums of 2011
- upcoming artists of 2012

first attempt of front cover
From looking at the comments i decided to go with the 5th picture for my front cover. This is my first attempt at making my front cover. what i like about it, is the photo and the masthead, however i don't really like the fonts or the colours, i think the colours are too bright for a magazine aimed for teenagers. Therefore on my next attempt i will change the colours and front too see if this improves my front cover.

developing font
i decided to develop this font by changing the colour as i thought it would look better and the multicolour's suggest the magazine is for teenagers. i think i will use this style for my front cover. please comment and tell me what you think of it.
fonts
i thought the fonts i had chosen before suggest a genre, and as i am designing a magazine for new unheard of British artists i decided not to have a font that suggested a main genre. therefore i decided to see to chose a font out of these two. please vote and tell me which one you think works the best.

Take this! (photo shoot)
please comment and tell me which group picture should be the main image on my double page and which image you like the best
girl band photo shoot
please comment and tell me which picture you like the best and think should be on the contents page.
My magazine is about unheard British artists who are trying or have just broken through the music business. I have decided to write about a new boy band, which consist of 5 boys, Josh, Chris, Daniel, James and Antony. The band is called "TAKE THIS!" On the 18th of January i took a photo shoot of the band and some other artists who will be shown on the contents page.

Analysis of layouts
I made 3 layouts each for my front cover, contents page and double page from the comments below I have decided to pick “A” for my double page as I think it’s an interesting layout, however, from the comments “C” was the most liked layout. “A” was the most like front cover layout and therefore I will base my front cover on this design. For my contents page I decided to go with “A” again as most of the comments said that was the best one, although I will add an editor’s letter and this might change the layout slightly.
fonts for front cover
i have decided to call my magazine Unsigned as the magazine is about undiscovered British pop stars. The fonts i think work best are called Seven swordsmen (Celtic), Most wanted (Graffiti) Whoa! (graffiti), Lead (retro) and learning curve (script).please comment and tell me which font you like the best.
Analysis of questionnaire
From my questionnaire I have learned that the majority of people read a music magazine only once a month, from this I have decided to make only one magazine a month. Even though from my questionnaire it tells me that most people read other articles than the traditional interview and review I have decided to still put these in my magazine. The average price a music magazine for teenagers is £2.70, but as I am making a new magazine I will set my price at around £1.20 -£2, this will attract customers as it’s the cheaper magazine. From looking at my questionnaire the Kerrang is the most popular music magazine at the moment.
Depending on how my photo shoot goes I will decide who and what shot I will make for my front cover. However, I think I will have a group shot for my front cover as the double page article will be on a boy band.
The type of genre my magazine will focus on is Britpop, as the magazine is about undiscovered British artists. From my questionnaire people thought it would be a good idea to make the magazine for both genders however, I have decided to focus on teenage girls. From my questionnaire I have decided to have purple and white colours for the front cover and have this colour theme will be on every page so people as this will help people remember the magazine.

Treatment
Unsigned is a new music magazine aimed for teenage girls aged 16-19 who are interested in the latest music and new Britpop bands. Parents of the reader will fall into the C1/C2 grouping as they are more likely to spend money on my magazine. The readers will be mainly mainstreams who like easy to read articles, however I will as be making the magazine for aspirers which are people who want to follow the lives of famous and important people. As the Aspirers like to read about the latest fashion, music and stars this is what I will need to include in my magazine. The reader is a bright, hard-working girl who wants to succeed in her academic life. She is interested in the latest music and stars. She will be more interested in interviews of new bands and upcoming albums. She will also be interested in programs such as X Factor and American ideal.
Form of style: Unsigned is a creative magazine with unusual patterns and layouts. I will mainly use colder colours than bright ones as I am targeting and older audience. The cover will include models that are around the same age as the target market. As my magazine is all about new upcoming artists there will be no celebrities as they have been discovered. There will be a new band or artists on every issue with will include interviews of them and their reviews. As I am aiming for teenage girls there will teenage age role models and attractive boy bands inside most issues. My magazine will as include auditions for shows such as X factor and competitions where you could possible get signed. The graphics will bold and catchy, there will also be a lot of cover lines to show the magazine is good for your money; I will sell the magazine at around £1.20-£2. As the average price for a teen magazine is £2.70 I will attract more readers as it is a cheaper magazine to buy.
Themes and typical features: unsigned will include reviews of artists and interviews; it will also include how to get the celebrity look which includes make-up, jewellery and fashion. I will focus more on male bands and artists as teenage girls because teenage girls are more likely to buy the magazine. It will also include music makeovers which will be featured in the celebrity look sections. As it is a new magazine their will not be many loyal followers as they would never have heard of the magazine before. The writer will use similar language to the target audience with will show the magazine is up to date and will make the read interesting to the target audience.
Potential advertising: the adverts in my magazine will include competitions, concerts and beauty products and bands such as Max factor.
Editorial team: the editorial team will be made up with experience writers who have been working in teenage magazine for a long time, and are aware of what stories and style of writing attracts the target audience. They will bring fresh, new ideas that will get more people interested into the magazine; famous celebrities interested in music will be interviewed and will interview the new bands, this will attract customers, as people are interested in famous people.

Internet research of Bauer media
Bauer Media reaches over 19 million UK adults and teenagers across multiple media channels. They have more than 80 influential media brands, including, Grazia, closer and heat. Bauer media group was founded in 1875 and it serves in Europe, USA, china and Russia. Recent NRS data shows a 39% increase in ABC1 readers for Bauer media.
These are some figures from last year. From this we can see that the sales have drops. I might have to consider making my magazine free as their sale prices have stayed the same. However I think I will not make my music magazine free.

Bauer's Mojo remains the biggest seller followed by Q. From this I have noticed that the biggest magazines still have loyal follower. This might make it difficult for my magazine to break through.
